Great Engine Demonstration: 12 noon

Elsecar's Great Engine is back in action on Sunday 26 October at 12 noon and 2pm! 

The Engine at Elsecar is the oldest steam engine still in its original location in the world!

Invented by Thomas Newcomen to pump water from the coal mines, it was the first ever practical engine.

The tour lasts one hour and costs £6 per person. Please note the building has two narrow stair cases and a deep step to enter.
