Visitors to Elsecar are in for a treat with the arrival of Elsecar by the Sea. The event, which takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, will bring all the fun of the seaside to the quaint historic site, once Earl Fitzwilliam’s village of iron and coal.

Barnsley’s Greatest Treasure revealed

Barnsley’s Greatest Treasure was revealed at the Friends of Barnsley’s archives and social evening talk which took place last night (Monday 9 March.) The winning entry is The Annals of Barnsley, written by John Hugh Burland. They are a chronological history of Barnsley from 1744 to 1864, a time when so much was changing locally.
