What's On

A full programme of special events takes place throughout the year, and businesses in the Centre regularly run craft workshops.


Events are subject to change or cancellation. If an event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If an event is cancelled in advance by BMBC a full refund will be offered. 

Refunds are not available on events tickets bought by mistake or due to changes in circumstance, if contacted more than 14 days before the event tickets can be swapped for another time/event or transferred. Please contact us for details.

Elsecar's Festival of Archaeology

Elsecar is set to get digging again this July with an exciting festival of archaeology centred around the Elsecar Newcomen Engine, the oldest steam engine in the World in its original location.

Unique Gift Fair

Unique Gift Fairs are pleased to announce their popular Craft and Gift Fair is back on Sunday 21 July in the Ironworks, with over 90 stalls selling a wide range of gifts and crafts from local Yorkshire businesses.

Cracking Ceramics! Elsecar and Milton

Have a go at making your own ceramic creations from pottery found at Milton during the excavation in 2019, with artist James Brunt. Part of the Barnsley Museums' Cracking Ceramics project. For more information click here.
