What's On

A full programme of special events takes place throughout the year, and businesses in the Centre regularly run craft workshops.


Events are subject to change or cancellation. If an event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If an event is cancelled in advance by BMBC a full refund will be offered. 

Refunds are not available on events tickets bought by mistake or due to changes in circumstance, if contacted more than 14 days before the event tickets can be swapped for another time/event or transferred. Please contact us for details.

Elsecar WW1 Poppy Trail

Members of Holy Trinity Church; poppy volunteers; "Great Place Wentworth and Elsecar" and the Heritage Centre have come together to create a commemorative poppy trail. A poppy and a memory card for each soldier will be displayed on lampposts close to where the men lived prior to leaving for the First World War.

Milton Excavation Results

In July a two week excavation was undertaken on the Forge Playing Fields near Elsecar looking for the remains of the Milton Ironworks, as part of the Great Place and Heritage Action Zone projects. Come along to hear from the team, including archaeologists from ArcHeritage, and find out exactly what was found and what this tells us about the site. The event is free, but donations are welcome.

Elsecar Making History: Events and Gatherings

Do you or your family live in Elsecar, or have you lived or socialised here in the past? Do you have memories or photos of the many community events and gatherings – from the Elsecar Fair and Hospital Sings, to church fetes and the annual works’ trips – that have taken place here in the past? Elsecar’s Heritage Action Zone would love to see them. Join the team for a chance to look at old photographs and share stories.

Antiques Fair

Started in the 1990s the Elsecar Antiques Fair has become the largest monthly event of its kind in Yorkshire. Visitors will find lots of unique items across the entire collecting ranges.
