The Man Engine plans to come to Barnsley next year

The colossal engineering miracle ‘The Man Engine’ will rise again and looks set to come to Barnsley in 2018. After recent news of the win of the ‘Best Arts Project’ in the prestigious National Lottery Awards, it has today been announced that the largest mechanical puppet ever constructed in Britain will rise again next Easter in an ultimate ‘Resurrection Tour’. On its travels it plans to come to Barnsley.

Flavours Food Fest is making a welcome return to Elsecar this October and they are on the hunt for Barnsley’s Biggest Banger! Visitors attending the foodie festival will have the opportunity to create their very own succulent sausage using equipment provided by Andrew Coddy of Coddy’s Farm in Holmfirth.

All the fun of the seaside at the heart of South Yorkshires

Visitors to Elsecar are in for a treat when Elsecar by the Sea, the village’s annual celebration of its remarkable history, returns on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September. The fun filled family weekend brings with it a taste of the seaside. There will be lots to see and do including a community gala (Saturday) in the award winning Elsecar park, beer festival in Milton Hall (Thursday - Saturday), craft fair in The Ironworks (Saturday and Sunday) and steam trains plus much more.

Nadiya Hussain to appear at Flavours Food Festival

TV celebrity baker and chef, Nadiya Hussain, will be appearing at Elsecar’s annual Flavours Food Festival on Sunday, 15 October. The ‘Great British Bake Off’ champion will be cooking up a storm at her live cookery demonstrations, which will take place on the second day of the spectacular event. At the performances which last approximately forty five minutes, she will create a selection of her very own recipes which people can recreate at home.

Elsecar Rocks

The village of Elsecar is excited to announce the date of this year’s annual family fun weekend, ‘Elsecar-by-the-Sea’. To mark the occasion, the new owners of a popular sweet shop in the heart of the village are launching the first-ever Elsecar Rock. The event which will take place on Saturday, 2 and Sunday, 3 September, will bring all the fun of the seaside to the historical village; which was once a celebrated centre of iron-making and coal-mining and part of the extended Wentworth Woodhouse estate.

Barnsley Museums welcomes almost 1.2 million visitors

Barnsley Museums celebrated attracting almost 1.2 million visitors in 2016/17. To mark the occasion, the last visitors to arrive on Friday, 31 March were presented with a special gift from Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet spokesperson for Place, at Worsbrough Mill Country Park.
