Mighty Man Engine or a Vintage Picnic

The mighty Man Engine will arrive at Elsecar on the evening of Saturday 23 June, to help us celebrate our proud mining heritage. Join us for a steampunk-inspired evening to remember @ the Man Engine after-darker. Or if you prefer a more leisurely afternoon, wander over to the front lawn at Wentworth Woodhouse for entertainment and a vintage picnic reminiscent of ‘big house’ gatherings of days gone by on Sunday 24 June. This event is part of Barnsley History Festival.

Great Place Wentworth and Elsecar are excited to be bringing the Mighty Man Engine to Yorkshire following his hugely successful resurrection tour of Cornwall.  Man Engine is the largest mechanical puppet ever constructed in Britain and he is coming to Wentworth and Elsecar when he will be the ‘star’ of spectacular daytime and evening events.

Elsecar will host the Man Engine ‘afterdarker’ on Saturday 23 June.  The ‘afterdarker’ promises an edgy extravaganza; an explosive experience including white-hot pyrotechnics - sparks and steam will fly!

The following day, Sunday 24 June, Man Engine will make the short journey to Wentworth Woodhouse for the ‘afternooner’ where he will be greeted by the Earl Fitzwilliam for a 1940s vintage picnic on the lawn at the front of Wentworth Woodhouse.

Let’s give the 11.2m giant a mighty Yorkshire welcome!  Both events are ticket only.
